Constant Conservative covers topics which are germane to an understanding of conservative principles and practice as they apply today to citizens within these United States.
All content of this site is created and/or selected and edited by an Independent conservative, Michael Woodring (and other authors as listed). While he is not against political parties per se, Michael finds himself unwilling to ally with the current offerings on the grounds that they may cause indigestion and other painful side affects. Whether this decision is based in good thinking or a simple non-conformist reaction, only time will tell.
Michael is a technical writer based in Monroe, South Dakota. He has three young children and an awesome wife.
He is deeply concerned that so much of the policy which is made here in the state and the country is not based on principle, unless one can call pragmatism and and overweening desire for increased governmental power principled. If one cannot believe that certain immutable laws under gird the very foundation of our country, then one discounts the sacrifice of those who launched this experiment in self-governance in the first place.
As an avid reader of history, Michael is particularly desirous of not repeating many, many parts of it. The very first post on this site gives a bit more context to the genesis of the Constant Conservative.
Michael trusts that the time spent here is not wasted, either on his part as a writer, nor on yours as a reader.

Andrew Tople has been a contributor to Constant Conservative since July of 2009. Andrew is a lifelong South Dakotan. He spent his first 18 years growing up along the western bank of the Missouri river in Fort Pierre. Andrew attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion where he studied computer science and business administration. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree Andrew moved to Sioux Falls where he has lived ever since.
Andrew believes in personal freedom and personal responsibility. He believes that the United States is a nation of laws not of men. And, he believes that government is best which governs least. Most of Andrew’s posts here will take on current issues from the classical liberal perspective.
Andrew loves South Dakota. He loves the geography, the people, and the lifestyle. Andrew cannot see himself living in any other state.
Andrew hopes that the topics he discusses here will be a positive addition to the ongoing debate about the welfare of the city, state, and nation in which he lives.
