Property and Rule of Law

A lady who has lived in Detroit most/all of her life is leaving. Why? Because she’s been robbed so many times that there is not much left to take. In fact, the last time, the robbers took the actual doors from her house.

In her neighborhood, if not a goodly chunk of Detroit, there is no rule of law. Since there is no rule of law, there is little chance that one will remain secure in one’s person or property. Without such security, one cannot be expected to live, to do business, to engage in the greater community.

How much of this nation do we want to look like Detroit?
