A week or so ago, I made a small contribution to the campaign for Daniel Webster for Congress. I did so because I believe him to be an upright, thoughtful conservative and because, in part, his opponent is appearing increasingly divorced from reality in his political attacks.
I was pleasantly surprised yesterday to receive a brief handwritten card from his wife Sandy thanking me for my contribution. One can only imagine how many of these they have sent out in recent days. Having contributed to a number of campaigns over the last few years, I can honestly say that this is the only one from whom I have received old-fashioned personal correspondence. I would see this as yet another indication that Mr. Webster evinces an attention to detail which will be welcome in Washington, DC.
The latest information I’ve seen has Mr. Webster up over his opponent by about 7 points. Let us trust that this margin will continue to hold and that he will be permitted to ably represent Florida District 8 in the US House of Representatives.
