I took a break from news of the world today.
I’m sure that somebody, somewhere was giving someone else a drubbing over whether he/she said “******” on the air. There is little question that the leadership in some country, somewhere is claiming that the opposition party has broken all sorts of laws which would prevent that party from participating in the upcoming elections. There is no doubt that some politicians here in the United States opened their mouths and made statements which their opponents are even now turning into YouTube campaign videos. I’m sure another poor, fatherless child was born in the modern-day equivalent of the ghetto–and his momma cried.
In fact, the more I think about it, I probably only need to pay attention to what is happening to get the right names–otherwise, most of the scenarios are as old as humanity (though we’ve had to update them to match today’s technology).
Not quite sure that I’m going anywhere with all of this other than to say that Solomon benDavid nailed it back in the day:
The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
