I’ve been thinking about these for a day or two but just haven’t had the time/focus to expand on them. Therefore, I’m going to put them out here with brief commentary.
- Guy/Gal who collects tolls in New Jersey receives more than $320,000 in annual pay and bonuses. I’ve paid hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars in New Jersey tolls over the years. I’m pretty sure a free market would not have rewarded the most skilled of these individuals with a salary which is nearly twice that of a US Senator.
- Man makes major mess by laundering diesel. First, I didn’t realize that one could launder a petrochemical. Second, what perverse incentives must exist for someone to turn this into a profitable venture?
