Snowe Kidding

I’ve heard some crazy things, but this might just win the award (at least for the rest of today). Senator Snowe of Maine tells us about her relationship: “It’s not about me, it’s about you.”

Did you get that? Here it is again:

“I’ve always been a Republican for the traditional principles that have been associated with the Republican party since I became a Republican, when I registered to vote. And that is limited government, individual opportunities, fiscal responsibility, and a strong national defense. So I think those principles have always been a part of the Republican party heritage. And I believe that I reflect those views and I haven’t changed as a Republican. I think more that my party has changed.”

Or the read-between-the-lines version:

“I’ve always been a Republican for the traditional principles that have been associated with the Republican party since I became a Republican, when I registered to vote. And that is limited government for the states and cities, individual opportunities for everyone who wants a federal government job, fiscal responsibility for everyone who gets way too much money as a CEO, and a strong national defense of our border with Canada. So I think those principles have always been a part of the Republican party heritage. And I believe that I reflect those views and I haven’t changed as a Republican. I think more that my party has changed.”

Honored Senator, I believe you are right. You do “reflect those views.” Everything is exactly reversed.
