Senator Dave Knudson Launches Petition to Stop Gambling Expansion in South Dakota

My friend, Senator Dave Knudson, has started a petition to stop gambling expansion in South Dakota.

As you should know by now, Senator Knudson is the Majority Leader of the South Dakota Senate and is a Republican candidate for governor in the upcoming 2010 election.

Please take a minute to read the petition, and if you agree with its goal take the time to sign it.

  1. From what I understand your friend Dave’s law firm represents some current gambling interests in South Dakota. Of course he would want to eliminate any new competition!!!!
Does anyone but me see a conflict of interest here?

  2. Interesting that, as phrased on the website, the anti-gambling stance appears aimed more at his potential Democratic opponent, Senator Heidepriem, rather than any of his more immediate foes in the Republican primary.

  3. I think I’d have to agree with the petition. I can’t think of too many beneficial outcomes to promoting gambling, besides the money-making factor. And this I don’t even support with a clear conscience.
