Ahh. The fresh air and hard labor of farming (or is it the fresh labor and hard air?). Anyway, I had to laugh when reading this headline “Bumper crop may be on the way.” Is not language a wonderful thing? The headline might have also been written “Bumper crop may not be on the way” or “We’ll need to wait and see if it is a bumper crop or not.” All of those would have been as accurate (and just about as useful).
I wish South Dakota’s farmers good yield for their labors–and am in no way desiring to diminish the same. I do think that the headline writer could have done more to reflect the content of the article. (Yes, I know its easier to be on the outside looking in than the person trying to come up with the headline under pressure.)
