Beyond the Silver Nitrate

President Barack Obama’s speech to the UN is now history. However, there was little understanding of history put on display during the speech itself. Paul at Power Line takes it upon himself to try to understand the meaning that lay behind the following convoluted passage:

In an era when our destiny is shared, power is no longer a zero-sum game. No one nation can or should try to dominate another nation. No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed. No balance of power among nations will hold. The traditional division between nations of the south and north makes no sense in an interconnected world. Nor do alignments of nations rooted in the cleavages of a long gone Cold War.

Go read the analysis and then rejoice with me that we no longer have the bumbling stumbling grammar and syntax of the younger Bush on display to the nations of the world. Instead, we have a polished individual who looks really, really good in front of a mirror–and has no apparent grasp of recent history (let alone things which old dead white dudes did 230-odd years ago).
