Why Be Thankful: 3
My auto insurance company, logo to the right, just sent me my latest statement. My premium has increased 12% for the year. No tickets, no accidents (well, none that I’ve been involved in–AIG is another matter) and yet I get to pay more in direct costs after paying lots more in indirect costs with the insane bailout?
I’m thankful that I have the choice of picking an insurance company which doesn’t bleed me from both arms at the same time. By year-end, someone else will be handling all of my auto insurance needs. Is not capitalism something to be thankful for?
Michelle Malkin with a related story in reference to Citi:
Dear Michelle,
I have been a Citibank cardholder since 2002. I have a better than average credit score and a perfect payment history with Citibank. My current APR on my Citibank credit card is 7.99%. Yesterday, the same day I find out Citibank is receiving $25 billion in bailout cash from our tax dollars, I received a notice with my billing statement stating my APR would nearly double to 14.99%.
Time to find a new credit card company. Citi has the option of raising the rates. We’ve got the option of waving goodbye.
