National “No-Longer-Gun-Free” Parks
For years, National Parks and other areas managed by the National Park Service and the Fish and Wildlife Service, have (in my opinion) needlessly prohibited weapons carry by civilians. The good news is that is no longer the case (or will not be as soon as the changes go into affect):
United States Senator John Thune (R-SD) today announced that the Department of the Interior finalized updated regulations regarding the possession of firearms in national parks and wildlife refuges, according to a news release.
The ruling allows an individual to carry a concealed weapon in a national park or wildlife refuge if that person is permitted to do so under state law in the state in which the national park or refuge is located.
With the recent events in Bombay as a background, I believe such a rule change will only help to reduce the number of areas in our country where terrorists could strike with immediate impunity.
